Senior Services

Naturally Occurring Retirement Community (N.O.R.C.)

Since the founding of the Isaacs Center, the NORC - Supportive Services Program has helped older adult residents of the five New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) buildings in our immediate neighborhood lead more independent and vital lives. Senior resident advisors, staff members who reside in NYCHA apartments, and other staff are available to assist residents 24 hours/7 days a week with social services, counseling, information and referral services. They provide a link to the Senior Center for those who wish to participate in Center activities. Our NORC- Supportive Services helps older adults stay active and connected to the community. In an effort to ensure our neighbors’ best health, the Visiting Nurse Service of New York serves as our health care partner. A registered nurse is available at the Center three days a week for elderly residents of the Isaacs/Holmes Houses. She also offers in-home health assessments, consultations and referrals to local healthcare services.
